Demetrios was born in Filia Kalavriton in Greece in 1946. During his studies at the Pedagogical Academy of Thessaloniki, Demetrios was studying simultaneously at a workshop of oil painting. In 1974-76 he studied sculpture and painting [busts] in Southampton Art college, and in 1978-80 Demetrios studied painting and marble-sculpture at the university of Guildford London [later called Sir John Cass school of arts].

"Amongst the greek museums, the Economou Museum hosts the works of Sculptor Painter Philosopher and Poet Demetrious Economou.
Amongst all he is also famous for his Arcadic spirit philosophy.
He is the 1999 Florence Bienalle Gold Medal winner. 
His works have been shown in museums in Athens, London and Frankfurt
The artist is still alive and almost everything on display are his works
Very few are for decorative purpose and in many the artist creates narratives, often on demand. The museum is included among the most popular museums in Greece."
